Austin Marathon Conquered
Oh my! Austin Marathon was super hilly and yes, it kicked my booty! This is one that I knew going into it that I wouldn't be trying to get a new PR or even worry about time. Austin is known for "Hill Country" for a reason! It's full of hills everywhere. Since I had a stressful work week, I just wanted to run to enjoy it and release stress left over from the week. Both of my hamstrings were yelling at me before I could even get to half marathon. I took a restroom break at mile 8 and kept running nonstop after that. I wanted to walk on some of those hills, but decided to just jog extra slow instead. Lance Armstrong passed me up at mile 23 with his camera crew. I then saw a man collapse on the ground with paramedics at mile 24.5. I just keep running and trying to focus on just moving forward and hearing my music to keep me going. The last mile had a crazy hill at the end and not sure why they do that to us. I mean, we are so tired, fatigued and they want to give us a hill!! My hamstrings were getting so tight, but I finished. My time may not have been fast, but very happy with results given my nutrition wasn't the best this week. It's incredible what you body can do. Keep on running!
