Coronavirus Hits the Nation

I don't even know where to start.  The last time I posted, I was so happy that I was able to volunteer in the Cowtown Marathon where over 30 thousand runners registered for that weekend to run.  Fast forward to today, we are practicing social distancing from people.  Bars, restaurants, gyms, school districts, international flights, and some work places are closed due to some new virus called Coronavirus (COVID-19).  The President has called a nation emergency with 11,000 cases nationwide.  What the heck!!

 Run Happy

I never in a million years would think that we would ever go through something like this!  Both of my spring half and Big Sur (bucket list) Marathon have been cancelled.  I told my husband, I'm still running a marathon even if I have to do it solo somewhere around here!  I'm still running my 2020 challenge miles I registered for this year.... one way or another.  I was mad, confused, sad and so many mix emotions going on.  I didn't completely understand until now.

This thing is getting out of control and it's very scary.  It's seems people are not taking it as serious either.  Therefore, people are spreading it to each other and dying from it.  As of today, there are about 150 deaths here in the states.  There is no vaccine or cure for it and it has flu like systems that don't appear until a week later!  So, people are walking around not knowing they have it.  The difference between flu systems and this is that with COVID-19 you will get fever, dry cough, difficulty breathing and fatigue.  This first started and is coming from South Korea, Italy, Iran, and China.  So, anyone traveling to those countries possibly brought it here to USA.
Students haven't been back to school since Spring Break.  Districts all over are having online distance learning with their teachers.  My son and I have came up with a home school schedule and we will try to keep structure/routine for him.  I don't want him to stress out about what is happening and his dad and I have to now be his teacher/parent/role model more than ever.  As a family we are working on our fitness everyday.  Noah follows me on his bike, while Dash and I run in front of him.  Daddy walks at his own pace which is still a workout.  As long as you move your body, you are burning calories.  Noah loves this time with us and it gets us out in nature enjoying fresh spring air, seeing the ducks, squirrels, and even Texas Longhorns at park close to our house.  I really love this park and do a lot of my marathon training miles here.  It bring us all peace.

We need to plan and not panic.  Yes, we need to quarantine and practice social distancing and constantly wash our hands (for 20 secs), but I also take this time to really bond with my family like never before.  Yes, I always put my family first, but sometimes our lives are so fast-paced that we don't cherish what is right in front of us.  I love how Dash is always ready to go run every morning.  As soon as I wake up and she sees my running shoes, she knows it's time to run and she talks to me.  I told Eddie and Noah, we just may get in the best shape of our lives during this time :)!!  No eating out and cooking all our meals really make me happy!

Please don't get me wrong.  I love my job as an educator supporting our teachers/students and our community.  I love teaching cycle at the gym to help people work on their health and fitness.  I love being the CEO of my own skincare business and helping people to do the same while getting healthy skin and confidence along the way.  Yes, I stay super busy and always on the go.  What can I say.  I'm a busy body.  Since I have been home and working from home, well, I'm not going to lie.  It's been nice.  This is a time to reflect and appreciate how grateful I am for having my jobs and family.  I don't know what tomorrow holds, but we can't live in fear, anxiety and stress.  I have my faith and believe the good Lord will take care of us.  Be blessed for your health today, tomorrow and everyday.   Please take care and keep working on your fitness friends!
