I'm starting to pick up my long distance mileage on Saturdays as part of my marathon training. This Saturday I ran 12 miles and the weather was warmer than I would like. It was close to 70 degrees with overcast and a bit windy. Eddie went with me and this was his first long distance run in a while. He ran 9 miles and proud that he finished, of course he worn out the rest of the day, but hey, he finished. We both ate crappy this past week with holiday food at our jobs and I know I have gained weight since running New York Marathon. And I felt it on my run. I couldn't go as fast as I wanted and just took it easy. It was a pretty run with all the colored fall leaves falling on me as I ran. I even stopped to take a couple of pictures with my phone. I ran at an 8:16 pace.
I finished Gladiator Boot Camp and was able to do 3 of the 4 weeks. I skipped Thanksgiving week to spend it with my family and sleep in. It's hard to wake up at 5 a.m. to go workout outside in the cold. The only way I get up that early is if I'm going to go run. I was glad I did it though. It's diffidently a whole body workout and liked the challenge. I have never done so many push up and squats in my life...LOL!! They would have different workouts scheduled each day. I of course, loved sprint days and weights day. The instructor wanted me to come work for them, but after telling him my schedule, I really don't think I have the time. My plate is already full with teaching cycle at L.A. Fitness 3 times a week and don't see me giving that up. Jeannie, my friend from work is going to give me a buddy free month in January because she is a Gladiator member and can do that for the month of January. I told that would be awesome because since I'm training for a marathon, I could use that as cross training. We'll see how it goes.
