I'm off work for two weeks for Christmas Break and this is the time I catch up with friends and meet them for lunch/dinner/HH, etc. It's so hard to eat healthy during this time of year, but try not to worry about it too much. I know that all the running I'm doing will help keep me from gaining a ton of weight. I do try to order healthier dishes when eating out, but temptation is everywhere! I have accepted the fact that I will probably gain a few pounds, but know that after the holidays, I will buckle down and go back to my Paleo eating habits. The good news is that Eddie's hunting will also be over and he already said that he'll also start eating healthy with me after the holidays. It always makes it more easy when he's on board with me because he's the cook of the family :)!
Some of my favorite gifts!
I ran my first 20 mile run yesterday out of 3 to do during my ultra training. It was Christmas Eve and it was a tough run. Woke up to cloudy, misty rain and felt humid in the high 50s. I ate way too much the night before meeting friends for dinner. I ran at a 8:54 pace per mile and I had to make a potty break while running! I did a step and strength building class the day before and woke up sore. My legs felt heavy the whole time. I usually have a rest day on Fridays before a long run, so maybe that was a mistake on my part. I probably won't do that again! I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what pace I should be running these longer distances. I know I need to run slower, but how much slower?? At first I didn't see any people on the trail and thought, "Am I the only crazy one running in this weather on Christmas Eve?" But then after 3 miles in, people starting showing up. Everyone kept running by me saying, "Merry Christmas" and giving me high fives and that is what kept me going till the end!
Today I took my rest day and spent time with my family and went to see my man at his Firestation for he had to work today. They cooked dinner for the families to come up and join them on Christmas. It was very nice to meet all the other wives and kids I've never met before. I love my running, but family is what matters to me the most in my life!
