Hard to believe August is gone and half way though September that first six weeks of school is almost over! It has been crazy busy since I got back from summer vacation. We have new staff and new Administrator roles for me, but it’s all good. Love the challenge and learning a lot as I go.
Last weekend I starting my Route 66 Marathon training. I ran 12 miles for my long run and it will go up in mileage from here on out. I have 12 weeks of training and have signed up for a couple of half marathons to make it fun. Dash has been great running 10 miles runs in July with me, but I had to stop running her long miles for it was just too hot in August and September. I will wait to run her long distance again once the fall cool weather gets here. I just run short 5Ks for now early in the mornings on the weekends.
I’m trying to get back on track with my nutrition, but man is it hard! It’s football season and family game watching parties everywhere and eating out with friends is happening. I do a cheat day once a week, but really trying to make better choices when we eat. Running more miles makes me eat more and that fine, but got to stick to healthy options. I stay away from bread and red meat. I went to my dentist appointment last week and my teeth were stained from drinking red wine, but I’ll be cutting back on that. That will be easy to do now that I’m training again. I usually don’t drink much alcohol when training.
Hot 🥵 summer runs are not my favorite in Texas! How do you cope...you ask? I stay in the shade as much as possible, run early in the morning before it gets hotter and hydrate with coconut water to keep me going. Plus, NEVER leave home without ☀️ sunscreen 🧴 to protect your skin! Tough run today, but finally got over my head cold and sweat 💦 it all out 😂!!
I registered for the November Zooma Half Marathon in Texas Wine Country -Fredricksburg, Austin. I am going with some of my girlfriends. Some are runners, others are not but going to be our cheerleaders. I have always wanted to go there for it’s in hill country and they have lot of wineries there. It will be a fun girls weekend getaway and can’t wait!
