Quarantine Life

I was supposed to run my Southwest 100 Half Marathon race I registered for at Fort Davis this past Saturday.  Of course, that didn’t happen.  I was really working on running more hills because that was going  to be a hilly course.  The race directors did let us defer it for another race later this year at no extra cost.  That was nice of them and now I just have to figure out what race I want to do next fall.  I would have to figure out when Big Sur Marathon will be rescheduled to first.

Our school got another extension due to self quarantine statewide until April 17th.  I have a feeling that we will not return this semester.  District leaders are working to get online curriculum for teachers with help of teachers by continuing to follow state TEKS.  Teachers start online teaching this week and working from home.  I too, continue to work from home.

I go over and see my mother throughout the week couple hours here and there.  Since she is not babysitting my little brother’s baby, she gets lonely.  However, I know she is older in age, 75 to be exact, and she really need her rest and not stress.  We pay all her bills for her and buy her groceries. She loves to cook for us as if we still live at home with her.  That’s just mom :)

I still can’t believe this is happening.  We go to buy some food at the grocery store and the streets are empty, no traffic.  The weekends there seems to be a little more movement with fast food drive-thru being more busy.  Fitness gym instructors are teaching fitness classes online and that’s cool.  Too bad I can’t teach cycle class online.  I do have time to work on my playlist and get to take my time with it.  I’m pretty picky with my music...LOL!  I’m starting to get creative with my protein smoothies and make new  recipes.  Eddie is even looking up KETO recipes and some of the stuff he makes is pretty good.  He made KETO pancakes with yogurt and cream cheese and it was delicious!

Also, with all the eating at the house, I still go on my marathon training schedule runs.  I seriously plan on my 26.2 miles somewhere at the end of April in the place of Big Sur!  It keeps me sane to get out and enjoy the outdoors.  Thank God, they haven’t closed the parks yet.  I pray they never do NOT close either!  I ran my first 20 mile run this past weekend.  Churches are closed, so I had mass on my run listening to Joyce Meyers.  I love her!  She’s blunt, to the point and always make me laugh :).  I also listen to my favorite running/leadership podcast.  The last 30 minutes, I listen to music to finish strong.  The weather was cool in the 50’s and felt so good!  Dash had a good pace the whole time.  The Texas Bluebonnets were blooming everywhere at Trinity Trails.  It was a peaceful run and it was nice to see families out working on their fitness enjoying the outdoors.  I wasn’t able to run to Benbook this time because it was flooded so had to take a detour and keep going.  We have gotten a lot of rain the last couple of days.

As for the Coronavirus, it’s getting worse each day!  To date, Texas has at least 2,877 cases and 38 deaths.  I try not to worry or look at the news a lot.  Eddie seems to keep me updated.  It just stresses me or I worry about my mom catching it.  I just pray that we all come out of this alive and healthy in the end!  In the meantime, keep on working on your fitness!
