Marathon Training Continues

Well, it looks like the Coronavirus isn't going away any time soon.  As of today, the USA has had
30, 915 death due to this pandemic.  In Texas we have 453 death so far.  It's so crazy and nerve wrecking at times because people are not practicing social distancing as they should.

Meanwhile, schools remain closed since Spring Break and our governor announced yesterday, that all schools in Texas will remain closed the rest of this school year.  That is hard to take and our teachers and administrators are wishing we could return.  Yes, it's been nice to be able to work from home, but we miss the students.  I just pray that they are safe at home for some students have very dysfunctional families.

Easter came and went without being able to go to Easter mass or celebrate with the whole family.  It was sad.  The Catholic Diocese  of Dallas was able to have mass via T.V. and that was nice to watch from home.  I just wonder how long churches will be closed too.

I continue to run with Dash and had included Noah on some of our runs.  Dash is loving that I get to take her with me on all my runs.  She's gotten really attached to me.  We got a nice surprise in the mail this week.  She ran the virtual Cowtown 5K-9 run and she got her medal in the mail.  Eddie can't run but he'll walk when we go run.  It's a great way to work on our fitness as a family.  Eddie continues to eat KETO and we have found some good recipes for it.  He has lost a total of 10-15 lbs and wants to loose a few more.

Since Spring Break and once they closed all gyms, I have be able to stick to my Big Sur Marathon training schedule I created.  I even include a second workout a day working on core and strength with weights.  It's usually a 30 min. workout and 10 min. abs workout.  I plan to run my cancelled Big Sur Marathon on my own probably at Trinity Trail in Fort Worth next weekend.  Like I've said before, I don't want all my training to go to waste.  Plus, it really clears my mind, relieves stress and enjoy running outdoors!  It keeps me sane during all this craziness.  My two 20 mile runs have been warmer than I wanted, but I run at Dash's pace.  I always stop for extra water breaks for these longer miles and she already knows where the water stops are and she'll lead me right to them.

Last Friday, I went with Eddie to go see a deer lease in Brownwood, Texas.  It was a three hour drive and on the way back home, I slept wrong and pulled a muscle in my lower left backside.  On Monday, I made it worse after my 30 min. strength workout and it's been sore since then.  I just pray I don't have a herniated disk.  My mom has been giving me massages and been taking some meds to help with inflammation.  I continue to run, but nice and easy.  It doesn't hurt when I run.  It only gets sore afterwards, it's weird.

Today, we ran 12 miles as my last long run before full next weekend.  We ran the Cotton Belt Trail  from NRH to Grapevine.  It was a great run for the weather was in the 50's and felt great!!  We even saw some llamas on the trail.  It was nice to see people out running, walking dogs and biking on the trail.  I hope that next weekend we have good weather for my full marathon.  Keep safe and till next time.

Keep on running :)!!!
