Welcome!

Welcome to my blog!

I decided to enter the blog world because I want my family, friends and co-workers to be able to keep up with me and my love for running and healthy lifestyle! As a mom it can be tough to juggle work, kids and marriage. However, I have learned that if you have the passion to work-out and make time for yourself everyday, you will be a more happy person!  It's a win-win situation for everybody!

I graduated from Texas Christian University with my Masters in Educational Administration. I currently work as the 21st Century CLC Site Coordinator for an after school program at an elementary school.  It wasn't until I started this job back in the fall of 2011 that I got back into running.  I was in cross-country/track all through middle and high school.  I kept running all through college and would participate in 5K and 10Ks a couple of times a year.  However, I really didn't get addicted to running until I decided to create a running club for my after school program in the fall of 2011.  I registered students to run a couple of 5Ks twice per semester and after running with them the first time, I decided to keep doing a 5K or 10K once a month.  Suddenly, I saw the transformation take effect.  I lost body fat and my running pace became faster than what I ever did in high school.  I ran my first 9K in January 2012 and got 1st place for my division!  That was the first ever for me!  I then challenged myself to try to run my first half marathon.  I registered for the Cowtown Half Marathon in Feburary and when I completed it, I felt a great sense of accomplishment.  Since I had already trained for it, I decided to run Dallas Rock n' Roll Half Marathon the following month in March.  Then, the unthinkable happened.  I ran the Clark Garden's Half Marathon in October 2012 and I got 1st place for my division/age group!  I finished in 1:47:19 at a 8:12 pace!!  I was on fire and unstoppable. So, I trained for my first full marathon and registered for the Dallas Marathon in December 2012.  I finished in 4:03 and that training/race has been the most challenging thing I have ever done both physically and mentally.  That's a huge check off my bucket list!

Well, that's how my addiction for running started.  It is now part of my lifestyle forever.  I have never done a blog before and would like to use this as a way to get feedback and find ways to improve my love for running.
