Last weekend I ran the Stockyards Easter Run 5K. That was a great way to start the holiday weekend. I actually got first place for my age group/division! That's the first for me on a 5K race! I finished in 19.26.9 at a 6:15 pace per mile. My fastest speed for race so far. I placed 14th out of 386 participants and was the 4th female overall. The only thing is that my Map My Run showed I finished 2.7 miles which is short of a 5K. Not sure how accurate that is for it was an official timed race. Oh well, I'll take it :) Our after school Running Club also placed second for the biggest group there and was awarded $150! That was awesome to hear and will be buying the students something with that prize money!!
Today, I ran 15 miles and felt good. I ran some hills and was able to maintain good pace throughout. My hubby also ran that and although he's much slower than me, I'm so proud of him. He's not a runner and wants to do this because he states that I inspire him since he saw what I went through training for my first marathon last December. He finished and that's all that matters to me because he tries his best every time. He's a little worried because the S.F. Marathon will be his first marathon and knows it will be a tough hilly course. I reassure him that for your first marathon, it's not about speed or time you need to worry about; you just need to finish. Love that man and happy we are training and doing this together!
