After I hurt my right foot on Wednesday, I went to physical therapist and they did an ultra sound to see if they could detect a stress fracture. They didn't detect anything, but Eddie was still not satisfied and scheduled an appointment with a podiatrist. They took x-rays of my foot and it showed no fracture. I was so relieved! They said I had tendinitis. Per doctors orders, I have to ice it and they gave me a sleeve to wear during the day and when I run. I'm not to run over 6 miles and need to take it easy for the next week. The only workout I'm allowed to do is hot yoga, spin class to keep up my cardio and leg strength. The doctor thinks that if I do this, I might be able to run my scheduled 20 miles next Saturday. Funny thing is that she also said the same thing that Eddie said, "Cowtown Marathon is not your focus, it's Boston. So, don't try to PR at Cowtown and just have fun and drink the beer afterwards." Today I ran my 6 miles out of the 12 I was suppose to run and took it nice and easy. I was nervous to run, since I haven't ran since Wednesday and my foot was still a little tender. I ran the first three miles with Eddie. I ended up running at a 9:00 minute pace. Eddie continued his 12 miles and I headed back. I decided to walk over to Panera's and eat some breakfast while I waited on Eddie. I asked for a bag of ice and to my surprise they were able to give me some. I iced my foot right away. I really think that helped it and was so happy I didn't feel pain when I ran. Boston training begins tomorrow and that really sucks that I will not be able to start according to schedule. However, I hope to be able to run my 20 miles Saturday so I must take it easy this week. I will definitely listen to my body and think of my number one goal and that is to run Boston Marathon in April pain free!
