Darn Hamster Wheel!
Today was not a good day! I woke up at 5:30 a.m. to head to the gym for my last 8 mile training run during the weekday on that darn hamster wheel of a treadmill. I ran 20 miles last Saturday outside and had a great run and was able to maintain good pace. Yesterday I ran 5 miles on the treadmill just fine too. However, this morning I decided to run 4 miles of hills and the 4 miles flat. At mile 1.3 I started to feel a sharp pain on the outer side of my right foot as I was running on an incline. It hurt so bad I had to pause it and call my hubby for advice. He of course tells me to stop and come home to ice it. I hang up and being the stubborn person that I am, decided to at least finish 2 miles going slow. It still hurt me and realized this was not a good sign. I just hope and pray it's only a sprain and not a stress fracture. I'm scheduled to run 5 miles tomorrow and 12 on Saturday and decided to stay off foot and skip my run tomorrow. Hopefully my foot feels better on Sunday for my 12 mile run then. All I can say is this sucks, but guess glad it happened now and not week of Cowtown Marathon. Eddie tells me that Cowtown is not my focus, Boston is and I need to take care of my injury now. As of yesterday, I'm 100 days from Boston Marathon, the biggest race of my life and I guess he is right about this one.
