Memorial Day Race - Unforgotten Heroes 10K

I had a great race today.  I ran into my high school cross-country running buddy Kelly Zaccaria!  I hadn't seen her since graduation and she looks the same.  It was nice seeing her and hope to keep in touch with her.  She plans to run a marathon in the future and I told her I would help her any way I can. I know that anybody can run a marathon, but some people just need the motivation to train.  I also ran into my now ex co-worker Christi and family.  It was nice seeing her at a race before she moves out of state.  I owe a lot to this woman, because she may not know it, but she is the one that motivated to run half-marathons in the first place.  Of course, I now do full marathons and seem to be unstoppable ...LOL!

It was my first time do a race in the rain.  It was a light rain, but I finished soaked and my feet were super wet.  So glad I didn't get any blisters though.  It actually felt good to run in the rain and it wasn't hot.  It was fun running with my good friend and running buddy, Hilda again.  We were able to push each other and maintain a good pace.  I took a rest day yesterday and that seems to help me when I race the following day.  According to their results, I finished in 48:05 and got first place for my age group/division.  Hilda placed 2nd in her group and I do believe that is a new PR for us both!    My Garmin watch shows I finished in 48:13 at a 7:38 pace per mile and my mapmyrun shows a time of finishing at 48:09 at a 7:31 pace.  Who knows which is accurate, but super happy with my results.
