Picking Up Mileage

My Boston training continues and mileage is starting to pick up.  I'm back to teaching cycle 3 times a week and back to my running schedule.  I ran 16 miles on Saturday and it was a windy, chilly run.  I worked on hill work again and was able to maintain good pace despite the wind.  I finished with a negative split and happy to finish in 2:08:48 at 8:03 pace per mile.  I felt my calves tight towards the end and made sure to stretch really good after run.  After teaching cycle on Sunday, I skipped my Sunday run and went to yoga instead for a good stretch.  Sometimes you just have to listen to your body and take care of it.  I really needed that and know that I need to do it more often.  Especially now that mileage is starting to pick up.  Next weekend I'll run the Fort Worth Cowtown half marathon and hope to do better than Austin, but will not push myself to injury.  I will not repeat what I did last year and get hurt before Boston marathon.  I really want to be injury free this time during my Boston training.
