I woke up excited to run my last long double digit 12 mile run this morning. It was a cool 54 degrees and had an overcast that looked like it might rain, but it never did. Last night, I had my once a week cheat meal and ate the C & C thin crust pizza with smoked chicken/goat cheese/roasted red pepper/chimichurri sauce from one of my favorite places, Times Ten Cellars. It is delicious and gave me the energy to have a great run this morning. I decided to run the crazy hills in Keller I call, "Keller Killer Hills" in order to get ready for Boston's tough hilly course. I was able to maintain a good pace and felt good and didn't even feel like I was going that fast. I just pray I stay injury free and have same energy in Boston.
It's my 3rd time to run Boston and I still get nervous because I know that course. It's the toughest course I have ever ran. Don't get me wrong, I love the Boston Marathon because the whole community gets involved and the crowd is amazing, but the weather can make or break you. The weather is just like Texas, very unpredictable! Last year it was windy, cold and it rained the whole time. I ran with a poncho for 22 miles before taking it off! It helped me stay dry and warm and was able to pick up my pace a lot after taking it off that I got a PR. The year before that, it was hot and I suck in the heat and can't run fast at all. So, I hope this year we have better weather. Although Fort Worth Cowtown Marathon qualified to run Boston 2017, I have decided to let this one be my last Boston. Well, at least until maybe next decade..LOL :) After Boston, I'll finish 2015 with the New York Marathon for my 3rd time and that too will be my last one. The first two times I got in New York not by qualifying, but getting a free guaranteed entry due to my net working with my Mighty Milers Running Club. But, this year I actually qualified due to my PR in the Chicago Marathon so, since I earned it, I have to run it..right?! I'm interested in venturing out and running other big cities in the USA. I have completed marathons in the major cities of Dallas, San Francisco, Boston, New York and Chicago. Good Lord willing, I would like to maybe run Washington D.C. or Florida next year.
I received my 2nd place winner metal for my age division in the Fort Worth Cowtown Marathon. I missed 1st place by 2 seconds!!
