Out of Country Runs

I'm back from celebrating our 11 year anniversary. Every year my husband and I take turns on choosing each year where we want to go in the world to celebrate our anniversary.  We do this to reconnect from our busy work and family life and take time to date again and remember why we fell in love with each other in the first place.  After we come back, we then take our family vacation with our boys.  I believe both are very important and come back rejuvenated and ready to take on another year.   Last year I picked Thailand and this year it was his year to pick.  He choose Barcelona, Spain.  He wanted to go back to one of our favorite spots from our Mediterranean  honeymoon cruise.  I love Spain because I can speak their language and there are beautiful people everywhere and have the best sangria ever!

I of course take my running shoes everywhere I travel to.  I love running in new areas around the world for sight seeing and working on my fitness too!  I'm on vacation, so no diet allowed.  I'm not training for a marathon, yet and this is my time to let go and eat what I want and drink a little wine here and there.  The best part about it is that I don't feel guilty about it and it feels great!  The one thing that doesn't change is that I still run when I can.  What can I say, that is just part of my lifestyle and without it I feel like crap!  I don't run really long distances because I don't know the areas and Eddie has to run with me.  He won't let me go anywhere alone when on vacation.  He always thinks the worst will happen and wants to protect me.  I don't mind it and just love the fact that he'll go for a run with me.  I of course run at his pace, nice and easy and just enjoy the views.  We talk as we run, take pictures and if I feel he is pushing it too hard or gets tired we walk and it's okay.  Usually when I run, I go nonstop and at a faster pace, but he reminds me that not all runs have to be fast. So, on vacation, my runs are with my hubby, at his pace, and I love
 it!

Short run along Mediterranean coast of Barcelona, Spain.
