Summer Arrives!

It's been a while since I have posted.  It's been crazy busy at work.  I'm working my last year as the ASPIRE Coordinator for an after school program at Binion Elementary.  I've been there 5 years and the grant has ended.  I have taken another job working as Literacy Coach for a charter school not to far from home and excited for new challenge.  I will miss working with my staff, but hope to make new friends.  The great thing about this position is that I'm able to take my son, Noah with me.  He is very excited about it.  I have mix emotions for I have never worked at a charter school before, but just putting it in God's hands and hope for the best.

I'm still keeping up with my 20 miles a week runs.  Now that it's hot, I wake up early to try and beat the Texas summer heat.  The good thing is that I'm not focused on time or pace and just running for fun.  My training for New York Marathon doesn't really begin until end of July.  I'm still teaching cycle three times a week at L.A. Fitness and working on more strength building.

I attended an after school conference in Austin last week where I went as a presenter.  We stayed in Barton Creek Resort in hill country and it was beautiful.  Of course, I took my running shoes and ran some hills and even discovered a nature trail behind the hotel.  It was so nice and could of kept running, but I had to hurry back to get ready for the conference.  One thing I know for sure, that no matter where I go, I'm packing my running shoes!  You always have time for a run even out of town :)
