20 Miles in Cooler Temps is the Best

NYC Marathon training continues.  Last Saturday, we got a cold front come in and I was able to run my scheduled 20 mile run in 56 degrees.  It felt so good!  Finally, we get fall weather and it's nice and cool in the mornings.  This is my favorite season and as a runner, it's the best weather to run in.  I love it because I have faster runs and I don't even feel like I'm going that fast!  Also, I don't feel like I sweat during my runs until I actually finish and see that I'm drenched in sweat...ahh the best feeling!

I decided to run a flat route at Trinity Trails and there were a ton of people out.  I even ran into a 5K race with dogs.  I can't wait until I can take my Dash on 5K runs with me.  She is getting better at running with me.  I still can't run her a long distance until she is about 18-24 months.  I'm only running her about 2 miles non-stop right now and she is fast for a pup at 8:21 pace!  I have to pull her back to slow her down the first .5 miles and then she gets used to running by me instead of pulling me.  She does get distracted when she sees other dogs and wants to go over to them, but I don't stop and she keeps going.  She is going to be a great running buddy.
