20 Mile Run #2

On Saturday I ran my second scheduled 20 mile run.  I have one more before the ultra marathon.  This training is no joke, but I thank the good Lord that I'm still running injury free.  I decided to run a slightly different route than my normal one I usually do at the Fort Worth Trinity Trails.  I love running my long runs at Trinity Trails because you can go on what seems like forever without any intersections or cars to get in the way.  You do have to watch out for cyclist out there because they go fast and know of someone who go ran over by one while running.  I ran at an 8:35 pace and finished at 2:51:46 with one pit stop to the potty.  What can I say, when you gotta go, you gotta go :)!

I crossed over some rocks to get across the Trinity River to continue my route.  I have never done that and know that if Eddie saw me, he probably would of had a heart attack.  He has rescued a couple people in the past while on duty who have slipped and drowned.  I saw some girls cross it first, so I figured it would be okay.  I was very careful and took my time.  I of course didn't tell Eddie :) On my way back I crossed over the cement sidewalk next to it instead for my legs were more tired and I didn't want to take any chances on slipping.
I finished running by horses next to me. The Fort Worth Stock Show Parade had finished and they made me finish strong!

Next Saturday I'm registered to run The Bold and The Cold 15K in Grapevine.  I run this one every year and it's a nice run by Grapevine Lake.  Last year it was cancelled due to flooding from all the rain we got last year.  Good thing that they allowed all registered runners to defer it for this year. That was very nice of them to do that.  Usually that doesn't happen for races.  According to my training schedule, I'm scheduled to run 10 miles and a 15K is 9.3 miles.  I'll probably run the extra mile as a cool down after race.  We'll see how it goes because I'm still trying to get rid of the extra holiday pounds I gained :)!!
