I ran my last ultra training long run yesterday. I had a 10 mile run. I decided to run at Bear Creek and didn't do the crazy Elaine hills, but just the regular hills up Bear Creek Parkway. My water bottle had a leak, so I had to empty it and ran with out water! I had a good pace going and was able to pick it up on my way back, but then I got a sharp pain on my side.
I was dehydrated and knew I needed water! I was over dressed too and was burning up! They temps were in the 60s when I finished. I ran into Eddie and I was so happy to see him. I was actually surprised because he had just got off work from Firestation. I was proud of him to get his workout in regardless. He could tell I was hurting and told him I had to walk cause the pain was getting sharper. We walked and ran the last 3 miles together and it was nice. I need to learn to run slow more often.
I'm starting to get worried about the weather. It's been a warm winter and just hope it's cold the day of my ultra marathon. It's not fun running in humid weather or warm weather! My goal is still to just coast it and not get hurt and use this as my last long distance run for Washington D.C. Marathon on March 11th which is two weeks after this one! Silly me didn't realize how close they were apart when I registered. Oh well, ready or not, the time has come and I'm just grateful I'm survived my training injury free!
