I ran 20 miles yesterday and I was able to PR and felt great when I finished! I was a little worried because Eddie and I have gone to my friend's wedding Friday night. We didn't eat dinner until after their reception which only served cake and punch (which I didn't eat). We ended up eating with another couple friends of ours and went to Cheesecake Factory. It was almost 10 p.m. when we started eating. I was starving to death and ordered pizza and ate their baked bread they served us with lots of butter. Eddie ordered pasta and ate some of that too. I hate waiting to eat so late when I'm hungry because I end up eating like crap. Oh well, I had to load up on carbs for my 20 miler run next day. I have never eaten that late before a long run next day and was a little worried about that. However, that pizza filled me up that I had no trouble sleeping at all. I woke up, took care of business (which is like clockwork for me, HA!) and got ready for our run. The temperature outside was in the 50's and felt amazing. Eddie and I started running about 7:10 and it was cloudy and a little misty, but it felt good. Since it was cool, I picked up my pace in order to get warm. I was able to maintain my pace and was able to run faster than normal and it didn't even feel like I was doing that. I tried to back off, but I felt so good that I just decided to listen to my body and go. Noah had chewed the top of my water bottle that it leaked when I ran and most of my water was gone not even half way through. I kept going and did take two gu gels on this run. I ate half a banana and a gu gel before my run and then another gu gel at my half way point. I was surprised that my left hamstring or foot didn't hurt toward the end so I decided to pick up my pace. I finished according to my garmin at 8:10 pace per mile which is a PR for a 20 miler for me. I'm starting to wonder if maybe I could run a 3:30 marathon. That's probably stretching it a bit, but that would be awesome. Eddie finished his run and said he had to stop twice to the restroom and eating that late hurt him. I'm just glad he was able to complete his 20 miles. It's now time to taper off and hard to believe that NYC marathon is right around the corner!
After our run later that day I went to a scheduled a deep tissue massage Eddie had bought me and my mom for Mother's Day. Mom has never been to get a massage, EVER! This was going to be a mother and daughter spa treatment from my wonderful husband. I was excited because I knew this would feel so good after that long run and boy did it ever. My mom was hesitate at first because she didn't want to take off her clothes and worried it was going to be a man. I had to explain to her on what to expect. They were able to put us in the same room and we got lucky because she got a Hispanic Spanish speaking lady. That made her feel comfortable and I have to say, I do believe she will be back. We gotta take care of our mamas!
Today I taught cycle class and it felt good to flush out any soreness in my legs. I had a good turn out for a Sunday morning with a couple of new people. It's starting to get easier for me...finally! I just need to work on finding some good music because that's what makes workouts fun. I also went to yoga class and really needed a good stretch and that also felt good on my body. I think Yoga has really helped in preventing injuries this time around. Live and learn, live and learn is what I tell myself 😊.
