It's a month before Boston Marathon and after our Spring Break vacation, I decided I was going tighten up on my nutrition. I started this plan eating healthy 6 times a day (controlling my food portions) and doing a 30 minute workout everyday (minus Fridays because it's my rest day) working on strength training. I have always felt that as a runner I can eat whatever I want cause I'll always burn the calories. But the truth is, I'm really not treating my body good by doing this. So, this will be a challenge since I don't like to really cook. But my husband is on board with me and will help with that..whew! It is also a test to see if by changing my nutrition maybe it will help me become a better runner. We shall see...
I ran my first 20 mile run today after eating this way for a week. I was worried because I feel like I have gained weight since I have been eating 6 times a day which I'm not use to. However, my energy level was great afterwards and didn't feel as fatigued as I have before after running this distance. I'm not going to lie, my legs were sore, but I stretched good. Later in the afternoon I did my 30 minute yoga workout for even a better stretch and it felt great. I finished my run just before it started to rain, thank goodness! According to my Garmin, I finished in 2:42:07 at 8:06 pace per mile. I'm happy with that!
