It's been years since our school district gives us Good Friday off. Usually we have to work that day because we have to make up a snow day. Well this is the first year in a long time that we didn't even get one day of snow this winter. So we were able to take off Good Friday. It was a busy weekend. Fridays are my rest days, which means I don't run, cycle or do any other type of workout. I let my body rest and get ready for my long runs on Saturdays. This Saturday I was scheduled to run 16 miles as part of my Boston training. I also had our Easter Stockyards 5K run with our Mighty Milers and both Eddie and Noah were going to join us this year. So, I decided to break up my run. I ran with our students for the 5K and then went back to run half a marathon on my own using same route, but going out further and back. I wanted to hurry up and do it early because it was going to be a warm day later. There were lots of people and kids dressed up as bunnies and was a lot fun. I was able to finish in time to run through the finish line before they took it down. Eddie and Noah were waiting for me in the truck so we could all go eat together for lunch. To my surprise, Eddie tells me that I won first place for my age group, Eddie got 3rd place and Noah got 4th place! I was super proud of them and my student, Jadon who I ran with at his pace. Several other students and staff also placed. We also won second place for the team with the most participants. I ran faster than usual because I knew that Eddie and Noah were waiting on me and I was starting to get hungry. I finished my half marathon run on my own at 7:47 pace per mile.

Beautiful day!
On Easter Sunday, I still taught my regular cycle class at 9:15 and glad I did, but my legs were tight. It felt good and was able to flush out a lot of soreness away. It was also good to burn some calories before stuffing my face with all the Easter goodies :)!
