What a busy weekend! On Saturday, Eddie and I signed up to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity sponsored by my TCU Alumni Association. I haven't done that since I was at Texas Wesleyan working on my undergrad. Eddie was feeling better today and was all for it. I was scheduled to run 18 miles easy Saturday, but we were scheduled to volunteer from 9:00-1:00 p.m. and knew I wouldn't be able to make it on time if I ran. It was tougher than I thought. I was lifting heavy boards and hammered some nails. Yes, I broke a nail and hit my thumb a couple of times..LOL! My shoulders were super sore after, but it was worth it to me to be able to give back to the community like that. We plan on doing it again, but next time we will take our older boys with us.
I decided to run Sunday instead because we had already made plans to take Noah to see the movie Zootopia with our friends Nidia, Rick and their little boys. For me, family comes first and I'll move my running schedule around them. I know Noah is only going to be little once and I want to cherish every moment with him.
Today is the first day of Spring and what a cool day it was. I was scheduled to run 18 miles easy today, but we had plans with our little boy to take him to my alumni TCU Easter Egg Hunt with our friends Carolyn and Byron and their grandson. I also had to teach cycle class so I had to break up my running. I got up extra early to run at the gym before teaching. I ran 6 miles on the treadmill, taught cycle and then ran 12 hilly miles outside. The high today was in the 50's and felt great for a hilly 12 mile outside. I was able to keep my pace a little under 8:00 minute miles. I was also pressed for time and pushed it harder than normal. I'm supposed to run tomorrow, but since I had my long run today, I will cross train tomorrow and work on strength building instead. Boston is a month away and tomorrow I will start my 21day Fix Extreme fitness/eating plan. It's time to get shredded and ready. The countdown begins!
